LASIK Laser Eye Surgery for Vision Correction

Laser Vision Correction is the general term given to the group of procedures using Laser Eye Surgery for the correction of the common vision problems of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Bladeless LASIK is the most common type of Laser Eye Surgery that we use at Center for Sight. PRK, LASIK, LASEK, Epi-LASIK and Custom LASIK are all different types of Corneal Laser Eye Surgery that also can be used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism and help patients become less dependent or even eliminate the need for eyeglasses and contacts for seeing clearly at a distance.

At Center for Sight, Keegan S. Johnson, M.D., is a fellowship trained Cornea Surgeon specializing in medical and surgical treatment of corneal disease, cataract and vision correction surgery including Bladeless LASIK.

Bladeless LASIK is a technique whereby Dr. Johnson uses the IntraLase™ Femtosecond Laser to create a very thin flap of corneal tissue that can be lifted and Excimer Laser energy applied to gently and precisely reshape the cornea. Dr. Johnson can then readily replace the laser created flap without the need for stitches. This type of Laser Eye Surgery is called “lamellar eye surgery” because it is performed between the layers of corneal tissue.
