Robert M. Kelly, M.D.
Robert Kelly, M.D. was graduated from Boston College with a degree in Biochemistry in 1991. He then received his Medical Degree from New York University in 1995 and completed an Internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Kelly continued on to complete both Residency and a Fellowship in Diabetic Eye Disease and Macular Degeneration at New York University School of Medicine. Robert Kelly, M.D. now practices in southeast New England as a General Ophthalmologist and Medical Retinal Specialist certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. As a general ophthalmologist, Dr. Kelly performs modern “no stitch, no injection” cataract surgery with lens implantation. Lens implantation includes Standard IOLs and exciting new presbyopia correcting multifocal IOLs that can eliminate eyeglasses after cataract surgery. As a medical retina specialist, he performs advanced retinal imaging studies, including fluorescein angiography and OCT. These state of the art diagnostic tests allow him to offer vision saving treatments including laser surgery for retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, and the latest injections for macular degeneration such as Lucentis, Avastin and Macugen. Dr. Kelly is committed to patient education so that patients benefit from treatment methods developed in controlled multi-centered studies such as the Early Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) and the Diabetic Controls Complications Trial (DCCT). He looks forward to serving south east New England for many years to come. |
